March is on the move! This month in particular has lots of opportunities for parents to learn more about their child’s progress in school and discover what to expect in next year’s grade level.
March 8th is our Kellogg Jog-A-Thon! Help us reach our goal of $30,000. It’s not too late to be a corporate donor or see if your work will match a donation. Jog-A-Thon envelopes went home in mid-February and need to be returned by March 15th to be considered for Jog-A-Thon awards at the April 21st 12:45 “Flagpole-style” Assembly.
Grade 3 through 6 students will be taking the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) beginning the last week in April. Please see the attached testing dates for each of the grade levels. Parents should avoid scheduling any medical appointments or trips during this time. Grades 3 through 6 will test on the chromebooks within their own classrooms. Any students who miss the tests will be given opportunities to do make ups as soon as possible. The test is untimed. Results will be mailed to the school and parents later in the summer.
Parents have the opportunity to meet with teachers during March 12-15 to discuss their child’s progress during Par- ent-Teacher Conferences. Across the district, teachers are not required to meet with each family as in the fall, but with those students who they have an academic or social concern. Just like at other Goleta school sites, parents can always request to meet with a teacher regard- less. Teachers will be sending home opportunities for you to sign up for conferences in your child’s Friday Folder.
Please also remember that all students will be dismissed at 1:10 during these four days. Sixth grade parents will be providing after school movie days on all four days as they continue to raise funds for camp scholarships and end of the year activities. Watch your child’s Friday Folder for more information.
Congratulations to fourth grader, Seth Maranion and sixth grader, Eamon Gordon, who represented Kellogg School in the February 28th county-wide Spelling Bee!
Kindergarten registration is in progress. If you have an incoming kindergartener or know of someone living in our Kellogg attendance area that does, please encourage him/her to come and pick up a registration packet from the office. Kindergarten screening appointments are selected upon the return of registration materials.
