March is on the move! This month in particular has lots of opportunities for parents to learn more about their child’s progress in school and discover what to expect in next year’s grade level.
Grade 3 through 6 students will be taking the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) beginning the first week back from spring break. Please see the attached testing dates for each of the grade levels. Parents should avoid scheduling any medical appointments or trips during this time. All assessments will be administered in the computer lab. Results will be sent to the school and parents.
Parents have the opportunity to meet with teachers during March 16-19 to discuss their child’s progress during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Every classroom in the school will be having student-led conferences. Student-led conferences provide students with an opportunity to talk with parents about their educational progress. The meetings are facilitated by the student and follow an agenda. During the conference, your child will share educational goals and examples of his/her work. Your child will also speak about his strengths and stretches. Together, student and parents will determine what each will do to help the student move closer to the student’s educational goals. Please plan on scheduling a time when you and your child can attend and celebrate his/her learning. Please help by returning conference preferences early and on time.
Please also remember that all students will be dismissed at 1:10 during these four days. Sixth grade parents will be providing after school movie days on all four days as they continue to raise funds for camp scholarships and end of the year activities. Watch your child’s FridayFolder for more information.
Congratulations to sixth graders, Wesley Lin and Ava Frank, who represented Kellogg School in the February 26th county-wide Spelling Bee. Wesley placed second overall in the competition!
Surf is Up on March 13 for our Kellogg Jog-A-Thon. Help us reach our goal of $25,000. It’s not too late to be a corporate donor or see if your work will match a donation. Jog-A-Thon envelopes are going home in today’s Friday Folder and need to be returned by March 27th to be considered for Jog-A-Thon awards at the April 8th Flagpole Assembly.
Kindergarten registration is in progress. If you have an incoming kindergartener or know of someone living in our Kellogg attendance area that does, please encourage them to come and pick up a registration packet from the office. Kindergarten screening appointments are selected upon the return of registration materials.
As always, feel free to contact me at email@example.com with any questions.
